How to Use Monetization Estimator (1970 Guide)

Project your YouTube revenue potential at different subscriber milestones.

Open Monetization Estimator →

"How much will I earn at 100k subscribers?" has a real answer, and it depends on niche, format and how many revenue streams you build — not on the subscriber count alone. The Monetization Estimator projects revenue at each milestone from 1k to 1M for your niche across AdSense, sponsorships, memberships and merchandise, estimates your current monthly range, names the three streams to prioritise, and estimates time to monetisation.

This guide explains why the same subscriber count earns so differently, how the milestone projections are built, and how to use them to choose what to build next.

Same count, different income

A 50k finance channel with weekly long-form and two sponsors can earn ten times a 50k entertainment channel on AdSense alone. The estimator models views-per-subscriber for your niche and format, applies the niche RPM range, adds sponsorship value at the rates brands pay in that category, and layers membership and merch conversion typical for the audience relationship. That is why the projection is per-niche and why the streams are shown separately.

Milestone projections

At each milestone the projection shows a monthly range and the stream mix. The mix shifts: AdSense dominates early, sponsorships overtake it somewhere between 10k and 50k for most niches, memberships and products matter from 50k up. Seeing the shift tells you what to prepare before you reach the next milestone rather than after.

Choosing what to build

The three priority streams are chosen for your current size and niche — the ones with the highest return on effort right now. Build those; ignore the rest until the next milestone. The time-to-monetisation estimate covers both YPP eligibility and the point at which the top stream becomes meaningful.

Tips

  • Enter average monthly views, not subscriber count; views drive everything.
  • State your format (long-form, Shorts, mix); it changes RPM and sponsorship value significantly.
  • Re-run when you cross a milestone; the priorities change.

Common mistakes

  • Planning on AdSense alone — It is usually the smallest stream past 10k.
  • Comparing your projection with a creator in a different niche — Niche is the largest variable.
  • Building memberships at 2k subscribers — The projection shows when each stream becomes worth the effort.

Worked example

Input: "Home espresso; 28,000 monthly views; long-form."

What the report returned: Now: $180–$420/mo (AdSense $90–$160, sponsorship $80–$220, other minimal). 10k subs: $400–$900. 50k: $2,100–$4,800 (sponsorship 55%). 100k: $4,500–$9,500. Priorities now: affiliate links, first sponsorship pitch, digital cheat sheet. YPP: eligible; sponsorship meaningful in ~4 months.
